Q1. What is UPS monitoring management software?
A: UPS monitoring management is a software package to improve UPS efficiency. It helps users to control UPS
and provide event records for the UPS. It also can automatically save files, shutdown operation systems, and
shutdown UPS when power failure happens.

Q2. Is it necessary to buy UPS and monitoring management software?
A: It is necessary to own monitoring software for improving UPS function. Generally speaking, it is necessary to
     know if the input of AC power and battery is normal. When Main Power is abnormal, computer will command
     orders such as automatically save files and shutdown systems according to UPS monitoring software whether
     user is there or not. For personal computers, when Main Power is abnormal and users is not there, files will
     be totally lost if battery is running out. Besides, it will shorten the life of computers and peripheral equipments.
     Not mention workstation. We can say that the lost is the same as that without UPS. Therefore, it will be perfect
     choice to have UPS with monitoring management software.

Q3.What is communication interface for UPS?
A: Currently, there are five communication interfaces in the market : (a)Contact closure (b)RS-232 (c)AS400
     (d)SNMP (e)USB。AS400 is the communication port exclusively designed for IBM computers. SNMP is
     the communication port that controls UPS through Internet without modem. Contact closure and RS-232
     are two common communication ports we ever see in the market. The functions of these two communication
     ports are listed below:

Q4. What is UPS pins definition for the communication cable of Centralion UPS?
A-1: For RS-232 interface, the communication cable is a standard RS232 cable. The pin connection between
the two terminals is in series. User can get it form the computer shop locally.
A-2: For contact closure (DB9) interface, user could not buy it from local computer shop. It is a custom-made
cable and user should contact your dealer for further information.

Q5. Why I cannot have the right communication between my UPS and PC?
A: 1. Make sure you use the right cable.
     2. Make sure the O/S is under the instruction.
     3. Make sure your UPS is working functionally.
     4. Make sure other program does not hold the COM port. Sometimes, the anti-virus program will also hold
         the COM port.

Q6. Can I use the WinPower software with other UPS?
A: The WinPower software is only designed for Centralion UPS. Hence, you cannot use it with other UPS.

Q7. Why the WinPower software cannot shutdown Windows 2000/XP completely?
A: The last information showing on the screen is " It is now safe to switch off your computer ". It is the normal
condition to shutdown the O/S. You will also find there is no “ Scan Disk ” function enables when you
switch on the PC next time.

Q8. Can I setting the custom-made schedule to On/OFF my UPS & PC?
A: Yes, the WinPower software has this function to have the custom-made schedule.

Q9. Why I always get 10 minutes backup time after I installed the WinPower software?
A: The default setting of estimated backup time is 10 minutes. You can extend the time to get longer backup
     time. Moreover, the WinPower software has an intelligent control on the backup time. Once the setting of
     backup time is over the capacity then PC will still be closed normally when the battery low warning signal
     comes.

Q10. Why I can not continue the installation of the WinPower software after I enter the serial
number of my UPS?
A: The serial number for the installation is not from the serial number of the UPS. You should enter the serial
number listed in the manual for finsih the installation.

Q11. Why do I find Java problem when I doing the installation of the WinPower?
A: The program for the installation may be damaged or some files are missed. Please down load the softawre
again then continue the installation again.

Q12. Why does the setting of the WinPower software can not be changed?
A: You have to login the software as an administrator to have the rights for doing the setting change. You should
go access " System " -> " Act as Administrator " to login the software. The default password is " Administrator ".

Q13. Why does the software detect the wrong type of UPS?
A: Please login the software as an administrator at first. Then you should go access " System " ->
" Auto Serch UPS" to re-detect the UPS again.

Q14. Does the software support USB port?
A: The software only supports USB port under Windows 98, 2000, XP and 2003.

Q15. Why does the software can not be connected with Apple MAC with UPS port.
A: The software is not available for the USB port of Apple MAC. It only supports the COM port now. Hence, you
should use a USB-RS232 converter cable for it. You can purchase the converter cable in your local computer
shops easily.

Q16. Why the PC does not restart automatically when the UPS restart?
A: You have to change the setting in the BIOS of the motherboard of the PC. Normally, there would be an item
     which is named as " Power " or " Power Management Setup " in the BIOS setting sheet. In that sheet, you
     would find an item as " System After AC Back " or " AC PWR Loss Restart ". You just need to enable it then
     the PC will restart automatically when the UPS restart after the power loss.

Q17. How many O/S can be supported with WinPower software?
A: The Winpower software supports Windows Family, Linux x86, Compaq True64, IBM Aix 4.3x, 5x, FreeBSD 4.x,
UnixWare IA32, Sun Solaris/x86 2.6, 7, 8, 9, Sun Solaris/Sparc 2.6, 7, 8, 9, HP-UX 11.x, and MAC.
